The diamond hole punch are used to mark stitches on leather in order to obtain an even seam.
A mallet or maul comes to press on the punch hole which will mark the leather at regular intervals. These same marks, already drawn by the punch hole, will then be pierced by awls to allow you to pass your thread and your needles by following. Thus, these techniques make it possible to create perfect stitches.
The tips of the punch hole are small blades that have been designed by hand, they need to be sharp and therefore well maintained to extend their life. It is not recommended to directly pierce leather with the claws, unless it is very thin.
The word diamond corresponds to the shape of the tip. (lozenge)
The gap is the distance between each tooth of the tool.
The tools are manufactured by the OKA-FACTORY factory in Japan. The watchword of this leather tool factory is to provide premium products at reasonable prices.
All OKA tools are made with high quality materials and hand finished in their factory. This gives you the assurance of having high-end, easy-to-use tools to take even more pleasure in working with leather.
